AbigailBot v1.0
Difficulty Moderate
Focus Jump-in Spacing and Timing
AbigailBot is mostly about the Abigail matchup, but also has a specific focus in learning how to jump at the correct timings and spacings against characters who have easy methods of antiairing. It also focuses more heavily on moves that are likely to be punishable, than some others, so that the player can get more practice, but also punishes heavily/severely itself, with high damage, when mistakes are made. The spacing required is, however, also a range that Abigail as a character is fairly good at, which creates the challenge. This bot is fairly easy to input, with less specific timings than many others, but it is not very lenient about some of the more complex inputs toward the end of certain recordings.
Successful play against this bot requires a bit more understanding of frame data than most, due to the spacing it uses. The player also needs to bear in mind that Abigail's hurtboxes, the points where moves connect, are not perfectly in line with his character model, and it is because of this that the crossup jump attacks must be learned through experience. The bot is designed to not move around too much using just walking forward or backward, so the player does not have to worry about that, but has to focus on moving into range themselves.
Gauge Settings
As with all bots, 1P Health should be set to "Normal". 1P CA Gauge should be set to "Auto-Recover", and 1P V-Gauge set to "Normal".
Settings for 2P are Health - "Auto-Recover", V-Gauge - "Auto-Recover", CA Gauge - "Auto-Recover".
Goals
Completing each action gives 1 point. Try to get to 10 points without dying, and before Birdie gets to 10 points.
Points System
- A - Punish Abigail's crouching HK (his rolling kick) with a combo
- B - Punish the 'overhead' style kick follow-up (Avalance Press) from Nitro Charge with a combo
- C - Antiair or Air to Air his jump
- D - Hit him with a cross-up jumping attack into a combo or command throw, take the point even if your jumping attack is absorbed by armor, as long as the combo or throw works after that. (if your character has no crossups, this bot should just be used for some Abigail Matchup practice, or substitute your own spacing/jump based point system here)
Difficulty Levels
- Easy - Points given for ABCD.
- Medium - Points given for BCD.
- Hard - Points given for BCD, but you must use your character's more difficult antiair for Point System C as well as an EX Special Move combo for Point Systems A and B.
- Extreme - Points given for C and D only.
Action #1
2/3HK, hidden [66 5LP+LK, 5MP+MK], 236HP, 236 instantly end recording.
While the edge-shifting technique used at the end of this recording is the usual for our bots, this is one where it is not as strict and if it is too difficult to do correctly, the bot's function will not be affected too much.
Action #2
2MP+MK, hidden [5LP 5LP 236LP] end recording immediately.
This is one of the faster inputs required, but it can be somewhat messy. It is lenient and does not care if the third LP comes a little early in the 236 motion, nor does it require a very fast edge shift (even though the recording ending immediately is much better than a delay).
Action #3
5/6KKK, 963214, instantly end recording.
Unlike some of our other 'command throw' focused bots, it is not necessary to hit the KKK input with the 6 direction as much, if it is difficult, use 5KKK instead to start (the KKK start is more important than the direction input).
Action #4
2MK, 236LP, hidden [5MP+MK (hold), 5KKK (hold, should come out as KK) end recording quickly but with buttons held.
We suggest setting L1 or L2 on a PS4 controller to KKK for this recording, and the other to MP+MK. This recording is just a cancel, so it can be done from close, and is not actually required to be all that fast either, but generally the aim is to end the recording before the end of Light Abigail Punch.
Action #5
4HP, 2HP+HK (should do his Target combo, hold until end of recording), 2KKK (hold until end of recording) end recording quickly.
We suggest setting L1 or L2 on a PS4 controller to KKK for this recording, and the other to HP+HK. This recording is a Target Combo, so it must be done from close, however in this case hitting the 4 direction and the first HP do not need to be on the exact same frame, though it helps.
